The SEO (search engine optimisation) firm is said to have created over 6,700 links for the firm and that the majority of them turned out to be worthless. Some are thought not even to have connected to the firm's sites. Only 188 were said to be useful. For its part, Google has raised its standards through its April 2012 ‘penguin’ update, a set of new programmes and algorithms intended to weed out ineffectual links and the ‘link farm’ process of creating them.
