Morgan Lewis has boosted its London bench with the hire of litigation partner Christian Tuddenham from Jenner & Block, the sixth partner the firm has recruited in the City over the past year.
Tuddenham represents financial institutions and companies on complex high-value commercial litigation, particularly in civil fraud and multijurisdictional matters involving the Middle East, India, Pakistan and across common law off-shore jurisdictions.
He continues a string of partner hires in Morgan Lewis’s London office across finance, competition, IP and disputes, and takes the firm’s partner count in the city to 44.
Troy Brown, leader of Morgan Lewis’s 1,000-lawyer litigation practice, said Tuddenham was “a highly regarded litigator whose experience spans financial services disputes, civil fraud and multijurisdictional litigation”.
He added: “Our colleagues who previously have partnered with him on matters know firsthand his sharp legal insight and collaborative style, which will add immediate value to our team and to our clients facing their most complex litigation challenges.”
Tuddenham joined Jenner & Block in 2015 to help open its London office, its first overseas, having earlier practised at Dechert and Norton Rose Fulbright.
His arrival brings Morgan Lewis’s litigation partner count in London to seven, including Robert Bolger Smith, who was promoted at the start of this month. Recently London partners Paul Mesquitta, Peter Sharp and David Waldron represented aircraft lessors in a landmark dispute valued at more than $4.5bn that found London insurers will have to compensate lessors over aircraft stranded in Russia following the invasion of Ukraine.
“I’ve come across many of the Morgan Lewis team in our field of work and have known them to be superb lawyers with a collaborative approach and commitment to excellence for clients,” Tuddenham said. “I look forward to joining the team.”
His arrival follows competition partner Paul Johnson and structured finance partner Dasha Sobornova joining Morgan Lewis in London in January from Baker McKenzie and Akin respectively. The London office also recruited leading IP litigator Hiroshi Sheraton from Baker McKenzie in September last year, around the same time it secured prominent patent lawyer Tim Powell, a co-founder of boutique IP firm Powell Gilbert. Secondaries partner Ted Craig also moved over from Paul Hastings in the summer of 2024.
A Jenner spokesperson commented: “We thank Christian for his contributions to the firm and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
