Moroccan law firm URITI has hired a partner from UGGC Avocats to co-lead the firm from a new office in Paris.
At URITI, Africa specialist Laurent Sablé will team up with Kenza Bounjou, a former Dentons partner who founded the Casablanca-based firm in 2022.
Sablé, who worked out of UGGC’s Paris and Casablanca offices, brings nearly 30 years of experience advising clients on M&A, private equity, corporate matters and international arbitration, with a focus on Africa. In 2021, he was appointed as foreign trade advisor to France for Morocco.
“After nearly 30 years with leading firms and many rewarding years alongside remarkable partners, I am happy to join forces with the talented Kenza Bounjou,” he said. “Together, we aim to develop a practice that reflects the cross-border nature of many of our clients’ challenges, with offices in Casablanca and Paris.”
Bounjou, a project finance specialist, was a partner at leading Moroccan law firm Sayarh & Menjra, which combined with Dentons in 2019. She held previous roles at Allen & Overy and White & Case, having trained at Clifford Chance.
In January, Bounjou advised shareholders in Afric-Phar, Pharmis and Partner Lab on their sale to Pharma Capital, a subsidiary of the Sefrioui Group.
Other advisers on Morocco’s largest pharmaceutical deal included Gide Casablanca, Dentons Morocco and DLA Piper.
URITI is rated by the Legal 500 legal directory for Morocco in the fields of banking, finance and capital markets; commercial, corporate and M&A, and projects and public law.
