The Dallas-founded organisation – formally known as the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, but now called the Susan G Komen for the Cure – is one of the best-known and well-funded breast cancer organisations in the country.
According to Law.com’s Corporate Counsel website, Ms Willmott is no stranger to the not-for-profit world having spent almost
15 years as a legal staff member for Save
the Children.
Ms Willmott is also a founder member of the International non-governmental organisation General Counsel’s Forum and a member of the Advisory Counsel, Charity and Security Network.
In a statement on the organisation’s website, Komen president Elizabeth Thompson commented: ‘Ellen is a highly regarded attorney whose experience at one of the most respected foundations in the world will serve Komen exceptionally well. She is widely known as an expert in the intricacies of global partnerships and growth, and as an outstanding steward in terms of regulatory compliance and partnership issues.’
