New GC leadership to usher in changes

One in ten large organizations recruited a new General Counsel at the start of 2014 which is expected to herald in a new era of legal department changes. The newcomers are operating under low-growth, constrained legal budgets and are looking to shake-up the role of the  legal department. They are focusing on reorganizing to better support business units and business goals, shaking up the core law firm roster, aggressively attacking litigation spending and drive revenue-generating areas such as IP, regulatory and M&A, the report says.
