NY regulator raises questions over law firm security

Benjamim Lawsky, the top financial watchdog in New York state, is asking banks about the cyber security of their suppliers, including law firms.

Mr Lawsky is head of the Department of Financial Services and has written letters to dozens of banks, asking them to provide information on the security of information on them which might be held by third party suppliers. The regulator asks them in particular about the security of sensitive data when it is passed to these organisations. Law firms are more than aware that they could be targeted as a weak link in the security chain, especially if they are working on sensitive transactions or issues. Source: Wall Street Journal
