Employment law specialist Ogletree Deakins has opened an office in the Mexican city of Monterrey, spearheaded by a three-partner team hired from rival Littler.
The incoming trio are David Leal Gonzalez, Rogelio Alanis Robles and Luis Cortes Salazar. Leal Gonzalez will serve as office managing partner of Ogletree’s new Monterrey base – its second office in the country. They will be supported by a team of five additional lawyers and a law clerk, as well as an associate in the firm’s existing Mexico City office.
Ogletree said it is opening in Monterrey given the city’s reputation as Mexico’s industrial and economic powerhouse, and its growing labour and employment law needs.

Leal Gonzalez arrives after almost 13 years at Littler, having been a shareholder for nearly eight of them. He was previously a senior associate at Barrera Siqueiros y Torres Landa, also in Monterrey.

Alanis Robles joins after close to 15 years at Littler, becoming of counsel in 2023 and then a shareholder in 2024. He was previously at Basham Ringe y Correa.
Cortes Salazar joins after more than 14 years at Littler, also becoming a shareholder in the firm’s 2024 promotions class. He previously practised at Guerra Gomez Hernandez.
Littler first set up shop in Mexico around 15 years ago, with offices in Mexico City and Monterrey, and opened a third branch in Saltillo in 2021.

Other firms expanding their employment coverage in Mexico in recent years include Greenberg Traurig, which launched a labour practice in Mexico City – also back in 2021 – with a seven-strong team hired from Holland & Knight.
