Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe has hired a four-lawyer M&A and private equity team from Norton Rose Fulbright in Munich.

The incoming team include partners Michael Prüssner and Benjamin Schikora, alongside associates Hannah Frahm and Helge Meyer.

The team bring buy-side and sell-side experience advising companies and funds on German and cross-border M&A and private equity transactions, with a particular focus on the energy, infrastructure, industrial, tech and innovation-related sectors.

Recent deals have included advising Siemens Energy, TOGG, Ecco, Rolls-Royce Power Systems and Rohde & Schwarz, among many others.

They join a wider Orrick transactions practice that ranked in the top 10 for M&A globally, the US, Europe and Germany by deal volume through the third quarter of 2025, according to LSEG. The quartet will officially join on 1 December.

Christoph Brenner, co-leader of Orrick’s German offices, said: “We’re excited to add a top-quality team with experience in the most sophisticated German and cross-border work for leading public companies and funds. This investment in bench strength responds to strong transactional demand.”

Prüssner arrives after just over three years at Norton Rose Fulbright, where he headed the firm’s German practice group for corporate, M&A and securities.

Prior to that, he spent three years at Eversheds Sutherland as co-head of its German corporate and M&A business, having also had spells at Pinsent Masons and EY following a number of years working in-house, including as general counsel of fashion company Peek & Cloppenburg.

He said: “Orrick has a strong reputation globally for innovative, sector-focused advice. We look forward to working with our new colleagues here in Germany and worldwide to build the firm’s German offering.”

Schikora, meanwhile, has been working with Prüssner since their days at Pinsent Masons, following him to Eversheds and latterly Norton Rose Fulbright.

Prüssner and Schikora’s arrival takes the number of Orrick’s new partner hires in Europe to 16 this year.

Other firms expanding in Germany recently include Clifford Chance, which last month hired a 15-strong class actions team from White & Case in Frankfurt. Also last month, Weil Gotshal & Manges hired a six-strong private equity team from Latham & Watkins, including partners Sebastian Pauls and Susanne Decker.
