Mr Zuklie, 43, is a corporate partner in the firm’s Silicon Valley office and already has experience of firm management, heading up Orrick’s global corporate business unit.

Top Job

The Above the Law web site reports that Mr Zuklie edged out some stiff competition to land the top job, with Los Angeles–based finance partner Alan Benjamin, San Francisco–based litigator Walter Brown, and New York–based litigator James Stengel all vying for the role.
Mr Zuklie will have a tough time replicating the success of his predecessor, as Mr Baxter took the Orrick from a regional firm with 250 lawyers in 1990 to a global leader currently boasting more than 1,100 lawyers across 25 offices.
Pending ratification by Orrick’s 370 partners, Mr Zucklie will take over the role in January 2014.
