Orrick poised to launch Africa practice

US law firm Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe is to open its doors in Africa in 2014, as part of a strategy to serve Chinese organisations which are investing in the continent.

The firm has 15 office outside of the US, all in Europe and Asia. Pascal Agboyibor, head of the Africa team which is also working on African matters, said: 'Where we decide to open remains subject to a set of criteria, including regulatory issues and client needs.  We have strong practices in all of these countries, except Kenya which is a growing practice.'
