A number of sources who act as IT and finance officers told Lawyers Weekly that internal tensions over earnings are helping to push out some partners who believe that they can take home more at smaller but more profitable firms. One senior manager at a round table said: ‘It all gets down to how much a partner takes home at the end of the day. That is where the most competition is coming from at the moment at the firm level and that is why we are seeing a lot of partner movement. Partners are savvy enough to realise that the big firms don’t necessarily produce the highest profit.’
Structural change
Another senior figure said: ‘I keep telling my partners that there is 30 years of structural change happening in five years and we are two years into it.’ Source: Lawyers Weekly
