Paul Hastings pays Dewey estate claim

US firm Paul Hastings and two of its partners have agreed to pay $1.6 million dollars to escape potential litgation by the Dewey & LeBoeuf estate

Agreement reached over Los Angeles Dodgers

/The deal follows on the heels of the  $71.5 million agreement last week where more than 450 partners agreed to pay up to escape potential lawsuits clawing back compensation paid out before Dewey collapsed.  However, according to Reuters this does not include the so-called 'unfinished business claims' against partners who took profitable business with them to their new law firms.

Unfinished business

Latin American head Michael Fitzgerald  and corporate partner Arturo Carrillo will pay $1 million between them. It is the second unfinished business claim by the Dewey estate. Last year Dewey settled its first such claim with Jones Day and bankruptcy lawyer Bruce Bennett over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
