Statistics from the Philippine Intellectual Property Office show that 7% of invention patent applications were filed by residents in 2013. Well under 1% of letter patents were granted to residents. Now the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) and the Association of Patent Agent Qualifying Examinations Professionals Inc (APP) have written and agreed a memorandum of intent in which APP members will help the TAPI in pursuing applications.
