Portuguese law firm PLMJ has launched a Scandinavian Desk. Headed up by Swedish lawyer and ex Vinge partner Peter  Morawetz, the firm has put together a multi-disciplinary team of specialist lawyers focused on supporting clients from Denmark, Norway and Sweden in Portugal. It will also target businesses in Portuguese-speaking countries and clients interested in doing business in the Scandinavian markets. Mr Morawetz joined PLMJ as a consultant at the beginning of the year and will work closely with PLMJ’s German Desk, led by partner Vasco Ataíde Marques.

More effective support

According to Vasco Ataíde Marques: 'Our aim with the new PLMJ Desk is to provide more effective support to investors from Scandinavia when they decide to invest in Portugal or in Portuguese-speaking countries where PLMJ International Legal Network is present.'  He added that PLMJ had already done work over recent years with companies looking to invest in Portugal and Portuguese-speaking countries. The firm also noted that Scandinavians were increasingly seeking to obtain tax residence in Portugal.
