Historic attitudes favouring globalisation are fundamentally changing....
PwC is already in difficulties, having been recently accused by British politicians of promoting tax avoidance 'on an industrial scale'. It has also lost its audit of tobacco company BAT which is now offering the audit to the firm's three main rivals.
Auditor
The current case revolves about the disposal of waste from the making of carbonless copy paper of the kind which is used when writing, such as a signature, has to be transferred to several copies of the same document. Clean-up costs and a bill for natural resources damages are calculated at over US$1.2b - but that bill might be split between different players. PwC was the auditor to Windward Prospects when it was bought by BAT in 1978. Source: The Independent
