Slater & Gordon takes over top Welsh consumer practice

Australian consumer firm has acquired one of the largest and most famous Welsh law firms, Leo Abse & Cohen - the 150-strong practice founded by Leo Abse who was a successful campaigner and Labour MP for 29 years.

Leo Abse has seven offices as well as its Cardiff HQ, and has expanded into England from its Welsh base. Slater & Gordon is also taking on a second law firm, the 50-strong Walker Smith Way which has offices in Chester and Wrexham. 

TV ads

Slater & Gordon is to start a TV advertising campaign next week, and will appear with a new colour scheme and refreshed brand and logo. Andrew Grech, managing partner of Slater & Gordon, said: 'The LAC [Leo Abse & Cohen] team will be able to offer a huge amount of expertise to our larger client base.
