Slaughters puts up NQ salaries to 70pc of Davis Polk pay

Slaughter and May, the first of the Magic Circle to announce newly-qualified pay hikes for London, is to raise salary 8% to a level of £70,000 - still well behind that of the top US firms in the UK.

Davis Polk & Wardwelll has been paying the highest newly-qualified salaries in the UK capital- pegged at £100,000. As the other Magic Cirlce firms announce, it will be interesting to see if Freshfields (paying £67,000 over the last year) seeks to remain the top-payer in the Magic Circle. Salaries in London are under pressure to increase as demand for this cohort of newly-qualifieds increases from the growing number os US law firms in the city. Source: Legal Business
