Squire Sanders creates healthcare fellowship first

US firm Sander Squires has created a health law fellowship programme as a result of changes in the US health care system and a shortage of healthcare lawyers.

A shortage of healthcare lawyers has prompted US firm Squire Sanders to create what is throught to be the first health law fellowship programe  for young lawyers in its DC and Ohio offices. The move comes as the US prepares for major changes to its healthcare system and will allow lawyers to train up whilst working as full-time salaries employees of the firm.

In-house opportunities

The firm launched the programme over the summer and allows them to work with healthcare clients as well as working  in-house with hospitals, government agencies and  insurance companies. Meanwhile the American Health Lawyers Association has seen an increase in membership of around 25 per cent in the past three years.
