Steptoe recruits seven-lawyer financial services team from Squire Patton

The team is being led by Micah Green, who will head the Steptoe & Johnson financial services team as well as chairing the government affairs & public policy group from the Washington DC office.

The newly expanded practice will bring together professionals in the legislative, regulatory, compliance, enforcement and financial litigation practices

The move is the latest in a list of departures from Squire Patton Boggs after the 2014 merger that created it between Squire Sanders and Washington DC-based Patton Boggs. Squire Patton Boggs has 44 offices in 21 countries.

Compliance

The move is described by Steptoe & Johnson as 'a major expansion of its financial services practice'. In an announcement, the firm says: 'Together, the newly expanded financial services practice will bring together professionals in the legislative, regulatory, compliance, enforcement and financial litigation practices.'

Full range

Micah Green said: 'As clients’ needs expand beyond legislative and regulatory policy advocacy and move to compliance and enforcement, Steptoe’s strong government enforcement and investigations and white-collar practices will not only enhance the talent of my team, but, more importantly, ensure that we have a full range of coordinated services to offer clients.'
