‘Busy lawyers have precious little time to spend monitoring technology upgrades for their practices – though the pay-off in efficiency savings can be worth the trade-off,’ suggests Jared Correia, a senior law practice advisor at the Massachusetts Law Office Management Assistance Program – blogging on the Attorney at Law website.
The problem with making a dive into new technology, he warns, is that it is almost immediately out of date by the time you actually use it. If you can’t keep up with frequency of the updates – and fully understand the occasionally radically changes to your favourite application – then you may fall behind the curve when it comes to being top of the class for information technology.
‘If your law practice management software does not have a built-in update alert system of some kind, the best thing to do is to subscribe to or regularly read the company’s blog,’ says Mr Correia.
‘This is also a great way to get in on beta tests for new features and new products.’
