Senior legal professionals from an array of leading law firms will gather in London later this month to explore how business development and marketing (BDM) teams can draw on their core skills to thrive in what The Economist has dubbed the ‘Age of Chaos’.

Chaired by Alessandra Almeida Jones, global chief marketing officer at BCLP, the Law Firm Marketing Summit features a keynote speech by consultant Wendy Bernero, former chief marketing officer at Baker McKenzie, on how law firms can find stability and growth in volatile markets, and an interview with Bakers’ London managing partner, Ed Poulton.

The agenda also includes a panel on the importance of internal collaboration featuring Amelia Stirling, chief markets officer at Burges Salmon, Helen Sheeran, managing director of group finance at A&O Shearman, and Rachel Reid, COO at Shoosmiths.

The client view, meanwhile, is provided this year by Nick Clayson, general counsel at Rocco Forte Hotels, who will draw on his career in the hospitality sector to discuss how law firms can deliver exceptional client service with Mike Beswick, BD, marketing and communications director at Taylor Wessing.

The 10th annual summit, which is co-hosted by The Global Legal Post, will take place on 14 October at RSA House.

Other speakers lined up for the conference include Barbara Koenen-Geerdink, co-founder of legal marketing consultancy BOOST; Charlotte Ford, head of international relationships, Charles Russell Speechlys; Daniela Conte, senior director of brand, Gibson Dunn; Hannah Callaghan, AD Global Clients, White & Case; and Nadine Gibbon, director of business development and marketing, Forsters.

They are joined on the programme by Reign Lee, a partner at Keystone Law; Sadie Baron, chief marketing officer, TLT; Tina Gandesha, director of business development, marketing and communications, Baker McKenzie; and Vikki Bentwood, founder, The Legal Linchpin.

Topics include legal marketing technology, applying AI tools for everyday tasks, law firm branding, stakeholder communications in an era of political risk, formulating data strategies, using first-party data to attract high-value clients and leveraging the legal directories submissions process to inform wider marketing and firm strategies.

New for this year is a breakfast meeting for members of small BDM teams hosted by Al Tamimi & Company business development manager Abisola Babatunde and Margarida Saragoca, business and knowledge director at Vieira de Almeida & Associados.

Hosting or co-hosting sessions on behalf of sponsors are Byfield joint managing director Michael Evans; Frank Bright & Abel’s strategy partner and co-founder, Rebecca Price; Matt Horsup, digital director at Itineris; LexisNexis InterAction+ client advisor Paul Tilling; Kidd Aitken director Jacob Aitken and director and consultant Matthew Cripsey; and Nexl’s chief revenue officer, Andrew Hutchinson and its VP of client services, Steven Ongenaet.

Also sponsoring the summit are Legora, Passle, Pirical and Tin Pan Productions.
