Top firm said to be paying US$9m pa to lateral hire

Kirkland & Lewis has reportedly agreed to pay litigation rainmaker James Hurst, formerly of Winston & Strawn, $9m a year for four years.

Chicago-based Mr Hurst chaired the litigation team at Winston & Strawn and represented some of the biggest pharma companies in the world. A compensation package of this size is seen as extraordinary, according to law firm consultant Bruce MacEwen in conversation with Reuters Legal.
