Top Spanish firm unveils NY expansion

Leading Iberian law firm Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has opened a New York office in a move the partners maintain reinforces its commitment to the international market.

The office will provide legal advice on Spanish and Portuguese law, with the firm saying the office will strengthen its international image and recognition.
Firm chairman Gonzalo Ulloa, said: ‘Gaining a foothold in New York is an important leap forward for our firm. It will strengthen our position and it will help us to maintain the leading role which we have always played in the international market.’
The firm’s resident partner in New York, Rubén Ferrer, added: ‘From our New York office we will service the whole of the US market, while also focusing on Canada and Latin America. North-American clients are crucial for Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.’
He went on to say that in terms of turnover by geographical origin, the US was the second most important country in 2011 to the firm’s global revenues, surpassed only by Spain.
