UK events firm Hyve Group has agreed to acquire legal events and networking platform LegalTechTalk.
The group will support LegalTechTalk’s US expansion with the launch of a Miami event in December next year.
LegalTechTalk’s principal activities include hosting conferences that bring together decision makers from organisations such as Google, DLA Piper and Freshfields, alongside legaltech firms.
LegalTechTalk founders Bradley Collins and Mikkel Jensen will continue to lead the business, with guidance from Hyve’s senior acquisitions management. Katy Fryatt oversees Hyve’s Global Ventures launch team, which will provide assistance for the Miami event.
Collins, who is also the CEO of LegalTechTalk, said: “When we launched LegalTechTalk, we always believed the opportunity extended far beyond Europe.
“Our USA launch is an exciting next step, and Hyve’s proven track record of successfully taking premium event brands into new international markets made them the right partner for us.”
Mark Shashoua, CEO of the Hyve Group, said the purchase is the firm’s first entrance into the legaltech market.
He added: “LegalTechTalk has become the trusted partner to the sector’s leading companies and this has been achieved through a relentless focus on customer outcomes and community building.”
London-based LegalTechTalk was founded three years ago by Collins and Jensen. Collins previously spent four-and-a-half-years at Insurtech Insights in his last role, where for the vast majority of the time he was chief commercial officer.
Jensen also worked at Insurtech as head of marketing and delegate relations for three years up to 2021. Before co-establishing LegalTechTalk he was managing director of financial services firm Samlino.dk.
LegalTechTalk’s third annual flagship event took place in June at London’s Greenwich peninsula, where attendees discussed and reflected on the four-year AI-powered boom in legaltech, and how it could affect their business and clients.
It said that more than 5,500 participated in the event from over 70 countries, where 62% were C-suite or senior decision makers, alongside more than 450 speakers.
Next year’s event will be held in June at the London Intercontinental O2.
Hyve Group, founded in 1991 by the Shashoua family, is a global events company that helps businesses discover new technologies, and create commercial opportunities via conferences. It is currently owned by private equity firm Hellman & Friedman, which acquired the company from Providence Equity Partners and Searchlight Capital Partners last month for about $1.8bn, according to the Financial Times.
Last month, Hyve Group also purchased Virtuosi League, a leadership and community platform for C-Suite marketing professionals.
