The Information Commissioner, Christopher Graham, has warned solicitors to be careful about their data after the privacy watchdog investigated 15 complaints against solicitors and barristers in the last three months. He said that the sensitive nature of information handled by lawyers and the fact that it was often held in paper files meant that they had be particularly careful. He warned against leaving paper records in cars overnight, not redacting copies of files to remove sensitive information and recommended that electronic documents should be encrypted.
