UK lawyers search for options in looming pension crisis

A lack of saving for retirement is pushing UK lawyers to consider some dramatic options - with 43 per cent expecting to work part-time after retirement day and one in five even considering starting a new career outside the law.

A poll of 438 lawyers by Investec Private Bank also found that 55 per cent of London lawyers expect to work past the current state retirement age of 65 for men. A quarter of lawyers say they have not been saving enough for their pensions and 44 per cent fear that they will not have enough. About 10 per cent of those surveyed are not even a member of a pension scheme. But lawyers are not alone. The survey also looks to the broader public where 72 per cent say that retirement between the ages of 60 and 65 is not appropriate anymore. Source: The Lawyer
