Neel Chatterjee, a partner at San Francisco firm Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, Harmeet Dhillon, a founding partner of San Francisco’s Dhillon & Smith, and Amar Shergill, the founding partner of the Shergill Law Firm, based in the California capital of Sacramento, were honoured recently for ‘outstanding contributions to the legal profession, the South Asian American community and society at large’.
The awards were presented at the 9th annual North American South Asian Bar Association 9th annual convention held in Philadelphia at a the end of last month.

The India West web site reports that the NASABA 2012 Cornerstone Awards reward those who best promote the professional development of the South Asian legal community.
Other award winners included: The law firm achievement award to Jones Day; the public service achievement award to the International Justice Mission; the corporate counsel achievement award to Thomas Sager, the senior vice president at DuPont Legal; the public interest award to Kalpana Peddibhotla, who established the India Community Centre’s volunteer programme; the pioneer award to Preeta Bansal, former Solicitor General of the state of New York; the outstanding chapter award to South AsianBar Association in Delaware; and the programme of the year to the SABA-Washington scholarship scheme.
