In Pittsburgh, for instance, the School of Law at the University of Pittsburgh has cut the number of places by 17 per cent to 175. The Dean, William Carter Jr, told the Post-Gazette that there were plenty of applications but: 'The most important factor in our decision to proactively reduce the class size was the contraction in the market for entry-level attorneys.' Meanwhile, at the Penn State University Dickinson School of Law, the first year class size will be 17 per cent down on last year's. The National Law Journal says that applications are down 12 per cent overall.
