Patents expanding Mark Herreid

The latest figures report a nine per cent decrease in employment work whilst intellectual property fell by nearly seven per cent. General litigation work saw a 3.7 per cent decrease in the same period whilst bankruptcy fell by three per cent, according to the report.

 Patents work up

However, patent work was the only shining light with a five per cent rise in the first quarter of 2013, the report found.  Filing patents and getting them approved saw a busy period as the US Patent and Trademark Office moved to a new first-to-file patent filing system in mid-March which saw a rush of applications as entities moved to take advantage of expiring filing rules, according to Peer Monitor which is part of Thompson Reuters.
The Peer Monitor Index is released on a quarterly basis and compiles financial data from 145 of the top 250 US law firms.
