White & Case has promoted 47 lawyers to partner, a slight increase on 2026’s promotions round, making the 2027 cohort the biggest since 2022.
The promotions will be effective from 1 January and are spread across 21 of the firm’s global offices and 13 countries. Women account for 23, or 49%, of the promotions, up from 33% last year. In total, 45 lawyers made the grade in the 2026 round.
While the US accounted for the bulk of promotions by country (19, or 40% of the total), the firm’s London office saw the most promotions with 10, followed by New York with eight, Paris with five, Houston with four, Chicago with three and Tokyo and Miami with two each.
The London promotions were spread across asset finance, capital markets, financial restructuring and insolvency, international trade, M&A, project development and finance, and real estate.
There were also three promotions in Germany – antitrust lawyer Constantin Teetzmann in Berlin, financial restructuring and insolvency lawyer Sven Hentschel in Hamburg and tax lawyer Alisa Preissler in Frankfurt.
Two lawyers were promoted in the Middle East: M&A lawyers Reem AlBakr in Riyadh and Yannick Whorms in Dubai.
By region, EMEA dominated with 22 promotions, followed by 20 in the Americas and five in Asia Pacific, including Australia, although litigator Sebyul Chun will split her time between Seoul and Los Angeles.
The firm’s M&A practice saw the most promotions by practice area, with 11 lawyers elevated to the partnership. That was followed by project development and finance with seven and litigation and financial restructuring and insolvency (six each).
Tax saw five promotions, two of them in Paris: Juliette Brasart and Claire Sardet. There were also two promotions apiece in the firm’s capital markets, IP, international arbitration and real estate practices.
White & Case chair Heather McDevitt said: “Our new partners are excellent lawyers who deliver exceptional results for clients. Their talent, judgement and commitment will strengthen our firm and support our continued growth.
“We’re proud of what they have achieved and excited for what they’ll bring to our clients as we help them navigate their most complex matters with depth, cohesion and confidence.”
