Woman pleads guilty to hotel killing of DLA associate

A 21-year old woman has pleaded guilty in court to second-degree murder of DLA Piper associate David Messerschmitt in a Washington DC hotel in February.

Jamyra Gallmon, 21, says she had planned to rob the 30-year old IP lawyer, when answering an ad he had put in Craigslist. She had pretended to be a man. She stabbed him seven times in a rooom in the Donovan Hotel and took $40 in cash and a subway card with $172 on it. She says that she had a flashback to a previous attack on her when he grabbed her arm.

Accomplice

Prosecutors will be seeking a prison sentence of between 18 and 25 years. Her roommate, Dominique Johnson, pleaded guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and faces up to five years in jail. The widow of the lawyer was in the court during the proceedings and cried when the wounds of her husband were detailed. Source: ABA
