Womble Bond Dickinson has marked its debut in Florida with the launch of a new office in Jacksonville, citing a focus on the financial services sector.

The office will be led by managing partner Michael Waskiewicz and includes partner Armando Nozzolillo and of counsel Robert Neilson, who joined earlier this year from regional firm Burr & Forman.

The trio represent lenders, financial institutions and other creditors in consumer and commercial matters, handling loan workouts, creditor-side litigation, judgment enforcement and asset recovery.

Merrick Benn, CEO and chair of Womble Bond’s US LLP, said Jacksonvilled was a “significant opening” for the firm.

“It puts us in Florida, it deepens our financial services bench and it continues a period of growth that has meaningfully changed what we can do for clients,” he said.

The firm, which described financial services as a core pillar of its growth plan, added a 36-strong consumer financial services team from McGlinchey Stafford earlier this year in a move that saw it open offices in Cleveland and Albany. It also opened an office in San Diego recently, with Jacksonville its 34th US location.

“Jacksonville is home for us, and we could not be more excited to establish Womble’s presence here,” Waskiewicz said. “Between the concentration of banks, fintech companies and mortgage and insurance businesses in Northeast Florida and the strength of the firm’s national financial services platform, we see a tremendous opportunity to serve clients in this market and to build something meaningful over time.”
