Allen & Overy has appointed its first global head of eDiscovery.  Scott Robson joins the firm from EY where he was an executive director in the forensic technology and discovery services group within the fraud investigation and dispute services practice. Over the last year, A&O has grown the size of its eDiscovery team by almost 50 per cent.  Mr Scott's appointment is part of the law firm's strategic plan which aims to find new technology solutions to service clients.

Expectations changing

Tim House, global head of dispute resolution at Allen & Overy, commented: 'We know that our clients face constant pressure to strike the optimal balance of cost, quality and risk.  By investing in senior business professionals, such as Scott, and by broadening our resourcing and the tools that we use we are helping them overcome this challenge. Appointments such as these will support our cross-border work, allowing us to lead on innovation in fast developing markets where expectations are rapidly changing with regard to e-disclosure rules and regulators using technology.'

New eDiscovery platform

On his appointment, Scott added: 'This is an exciting time to join Allen & Overy as it is currently investing in a new eDiscovery platform and is involved in a broader change management project which is focused on its litigation working practices.  I am looking forward to working with the team to support clients with end-to-end management on eDiscovery exercises that will ultimately enhance the firm’s core legal services.'
