James Bonington has been appointed as Chelsea Football Club's first ever head of legal.Formerly the head of legal at the Football Association, Mr Bonington was appointed last month as Chelea's head of legal. The position has been available since last year.  Mr Bonington began his career as a trainee solicitor at Magic Circle firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer before moving to the Football Association in August 2007. His job at Chelsea is likely to include employment and sports law, intellectual property and commercial contracts, as well as a supervisory role on the arbitrtaion, disciplinary and commercial work of external firms Squire Sanders and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher and Flom.
