Drone manufacture market predicted to boom despite strict regulation

The international drone market is forecast to grow at 22 per cent per annum to take it to $2.3b in five years - despite 'strict airspace regulations', according to a report from Markets and Markets.

Pilots have reported seeing drones flying at altitudes of up to 10,000 feet BLUR LIFE 1975

Growing use of drones by law enforcers has stimulated the market, which is estimated to bring in $840m this year. Restraints on growth are coming from falling defence budgets (on the military side) as well as a lack of skilled pilots and tight regulations. For instance, only a minority of EU countries now permit the flying of small drones - but it is expected that most of them will work hard to catch up.

South Korea

Despite these challenges, large amounts are being spent on R&D in countries including South Korea, China, Germany, France and Australia, according to the report ‘Multirotor Drones Market by Application, Payload, Region - Forecast to 2020’. Germany, Australia, South Korea, Israel, the UK and the US are home to some of the leading manufacturers.
