Texan law firm Andrews Kurth has lost five partners from its capital markets and M&A practices to Sidley Austin. Four of the partners, David Buck, Jon Daly, Angela Richards and George Vlahakos – will be based in its Houston office, with the remaining partner – Bill Cooper – splitting his time between Houston and Washington DC Mr. Buck, Mr. Daly, Mr. Vlahakos and Mr. Cooper will join Sidley November 1, while Ms. Richards will follow in early December. Their arrival will solidify Sidley’s position as a destination firm for energy transactions. Sidley Austin opened in Houston five years ago and will have 60 lawyers once the new lawyers join.

Important addition

'David, Bill, John, Angela and George are widely known in the energy sector and recognised for their experience and industry insights,' said Kevin Lewis, co-managing partner of Sidley’s Houston office. 'For the past two decades they have been advising energy companies, investment banks, funds and others on complex and innovative transactions, including for master limited partnerships. Their coveted MLP capital markets and tax work will be an important addition to our office, and together with their broader capital markets and M&A capabilities will complement Sidley’s formidable, globally recognised capital markets and M&A practices.'
