Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has confirmed that it will open the doors of a new office in the German city of Frankfurt after wooing corporate partners Dirk Oberbracht and Wilhelm Reinhardt from rival global operator Latham & Watkins. Mr Oberbracht joined Latham in 2006 from Baker & McKenzie and most recently served as head of the firm’s own Frankfurt office, while Mr Reinhardt has been a member of Latham’s partnership since 2008. The pair bring with them a book of business including clients like Dubai International Capital, Goldman Sachs, Nordic Capital and Triton.

European growth

The Frankfurt office will be Gibson Dunn’s second in Germany (after its flagship office in Munich) and its fifth in Europe after openings in London, Paris and Brussels. The decision to launch in Frankfurt comes just months after the firm nabbed former Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer corporate partner Ferdinand Fromholzer for its Munich team. The Frankfurt office is expected to launch in September this year.
