Law firms prepare GM recall suits
Different kinds of legal claim - relating to bankruptcy and fraud as well as product liability - are being prepared by lawyers in response to the recall of 1.6m vehicles by General Motors.
San Francisco: 200 calls Pal Teravagimov
One San Francisco firm said that it had received 200 enquiries in one week alone from potential litigants. Since some crashes involving the recalled vehicles happened before the 2009 bankruptcy filing of GM lawyers are examining bankruptcy law to find solutions in those cases. John Pottow, bankruptcy lawyer at the University of Michigan Law School, said: ‘You open up the bankruptcy and start all over again.’ Source: New York Times
