Mayer Brown's private equity expansion in London continues with addition of Neil Evans as partner from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. Mr Evans, who represents private equity sponsors and corporates on public and private M&A, ECM, buyout transactions and equity investments across a broad range of sectors, will join the firm next week. His arrival builds on the strategic expansion of the firm's private equity offering in London, which was spearheaded by the appointment of Perry Yam as head of private equity in London in February 2016.

Ambitious plans

Mr Yam, who was recently appointed co-leader of the global corporate and securities practice at Mayer Brown, said: 'This is an exciting time for our private equity practice and we have ambitious plans for the future that will see us deepen and strengthen our cross-border offering, particularly in New York, Germany, Paris and London. Neil is a superb lawyer with great client credentials. He is a perfect fit for our practice and we are delighted to welcome him to the team. The expansion of the London private equity team has only just begun.'  Mayer Brown's international private equity team recently advised Vitruvian Partners and its portfolio company JAC Travel on the sale to Australian-listed Webjet and Stirling Square Capital Partners LLP on its investment in The Magnum Corporation, Caltherm Corporation in the US and Vernet SAS in France.
