The firm is the latest to announce a remote working programme for associates in its US and UK offices.

The initiative, to be launched on 1 May, will leverage technology to allow eligible associates to spend one or two days weekly working remotely. The programme follows an extensive beta test, which confirmed continued and strong associate productivity, availability, and engagement from participants. As a global law firm, Morgan Lewis lawyers work across time zones and geographies with clients and colleagues every day. The same state-of-the-art technology and commitment to client service allows lawyers to work remotely as the beta test successfully established.

Effective

Firm chair Jami McKeon, said: ‘Our clients have long recognised the value and effectiveness of remote working programmes and we know these programmes work well. It is well established that they provide significant benefits for the individuals without any reduction in the quality or level of service. Our experience reinforces that wisdom.’ Amanda Smith, the firm’s associate talent partner, agreed saying that remote working would provide additional flexibility without sacrificing any productivity or engagement with clients or the firm. She added that the move ‘willl help us to continue to attract and retain top associate talent’.

Trend

Last week Global Legal Post revealed that Venable as it moved into new DC offices was also planning an innovative work environment for its staff to help ensure ‘employee welness’ including providing treadmill desks in designated open areas.  In addition, every employee – attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and professional staff – will have an adaptable workstation that includes a motorised standing desk.
