US law firm Sidley Austin has topped a poll of US billion dollar law firms. The firm has the largest turnover at $2.036bn, followed by White & Case at $1.8bn. Gibson Dunn is third on the list, according to Above the Law, at $1.64bn with Paul Weiss reporting revenues of $1.3bn and Cooley at $1.07bn. The figures were compiled by Law.com. Earlier figures from Citibank revealed that in the first nine months of 2017, the US law firm industry saw revenue growth of 3.6 per cent - driven by standard rate increases (4.0 per cent) as demand declined by 0.2 per cent and collections slowed by 0.9 per cent. The same report revealed that US law firms had made a major impact on the London marketplace, gaining leading roles in big-ticket work and leaving UK law firms increasingly squeezed. According to the 2018 Client Advisory report,  a club of about 15 law firms has emerged, 10 US firms and five Magic Circle firms - which get the best work globally leaving the next tier of UK law firms on the sidelines when it comes to winning major transactions.
