The announcement comes at a time when Uber is hitting the headings for facing legal scrutiny from regulators, competitors, and employees. And, of course it has been forced to fight for its survival through a number of regulatory battles in multiple jurisdictions ever since launch.

Expanded team

It is understood that Miss Yoo will continue to lead the company’s regulatory, legal and safety and insurance teams but also take on day-to-day direction and operation of the legal and regulatory teams. Uber’s legal team now exceeds 200 people in more than 30 locations around the world.

Increasingly facing litigation

According to to Bloomberg Law litigation analytics since 2013, Uber’s federal court appearances have dramatically increased  from about 7 to over 75 per year.
