Wife of murdered DLA assistant gives details of last text

The DLA Piper associate murdered in a Washington DC hotel appears to have sent a text to his wife saying he would be home in an hour just 11 minutes before a person who may be connected to the case was seen walking through the hotel lobby.

Tributes have been paid about the murdered DLA lawyer in Washington DC Orhan Cam

His wife, Kim Vuong, was expecting him back shortly. She waited for slightly more than five hours before calling the police to report him missing. The body of the IP specialist lawyer, David Messerschmitt, was found with stab wounds later that morning in a bedroom of the fourth floor of the Donovan Hotel. The 'person of interest' seen entering the hotel is wearing a hooded jacket and does not remove the hood even when climbing the stairs. Nevertheless, the face is clearly visible at one stage.

Most wonderful kid

A judge, with whom Mr Messerschmitt worked during an internship, Susan Dlott of Cincinatti, said: 'He was a star, an absolute star. I’m just so sick about this. He was the nicest, most wonderful kid you could ever want to meet.' Source: ABA
