RBS has appointed John Collins as its new general counsel Lucian Milasan

The Royal Bank of Scotland has a new general counsel after Chris Campbell, who has been in the job for a decade, retired this month.  John Collins, currently deputy general counsel, has succeeded Mr Campbell as head of legal. Mr Collins previously worked at ABN Amro and Citigroup. He also worked at legacy firm Wilde Sapte.  He will oversee a 400 strong legal team globally as well as overseeing RBS’s panel review. 

Car rental group Hertz Global Holdings has appointed Tom Sabatino as its general counsel and chief administrative officer. Mr Sabatino  oversee the company’s legal and compliance affairs. He will also have responsibility for human resources, labour relations, commnications, government affiars, commnity relations, real estate, facilities and security. He joins the company from Walgreen Boots Alliance where he had the same role. Prior to that he was general counsel at United Airlines and Schering-Plough as well as general counsel at Baxter International and American Medical International. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Chicago Zoological Society (the Brookfield Zoo) and is the recent Past Chair of the Association of Corporate Counsel.  

US defence company Raytheon has appointed a former general counsel for the US Navy as its new head of legal. Frank Jiminez joins the company as its general counsel from agribusiness and food company Bunge Limited where he was general counsel, company secretary and management director of government affairs since 2012. Prior to that, Mr Jiminez joined the Navy in 2006, having been appointed by President Bush. He managed over 600 lawyers globally until 2009 when he joined ITT Corporation as Vice President and General Counsel. After the company broke up in 2011, he joined ITT spinoff Xylem Inc. He had earlier been a partner at Miami law firm Steel Hector and Davies. He replaces Jay Stephens. 

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has appointed Charles Yo to become general counsel of the agency. The position has been vacant since the resignation of Michael Krimminger in 2012. Mr Yo was previously staff director and chief counsel on the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. Prior to his career in the public sector, he was a lawyer at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr specialising in banking, corporate and securities law. He has also worked at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. The acting general counsel Richard Osterman will return to his post as deputy legal counsel of its legal division. The FIDC insures deposits in banks and saving associations. It has been in existence since 1933 when it was set up to restore confidence in the banking system.

Law firm Eversheds will not replace its general counsel, Angela Robertson, who is leaving to become general counsel at London law firm Taylor Wessing. The firm will instead appoint a director of compliance.
