The Press Association hires a new general counsel Udra11

Stephen Godsell has been appointed as group general counsel and company secretary of the PA Group, parent company of the Press Association. He has a decade of experience in the media, working for the last six years at The Economist Group. He also used to work at Clifford Chance, according to NewsOnNews.

Richard Griffin, Barack Obama's candidate for head of the National Labor Relations Board, has had his appointment confirmed by the Senate. The Democrat lawyer takes over as General Counsel at the Board for a four year term, after the Senate voted 55-44 in his favour. His appointment was controversial, opposed by all but one Republican, according to FoxNews.

David Allgood of the Royal Bank of Canada is to become the first Canadian board chairman at the Association of Corporate Counsel in its 30-year history. He is already general counsel and executive vice president, according to Canadian Lawyer magazine. 

US Department of the Treasury lawyer Anne Salladin is leaving after 20 years to go into private practice. She has been working in the Office of the Assistant General Counsel for International Affairs at the Treasury for that time, and is one of very few lawyers with experience of the Committee on Foreign Investment to leave for the private sector. She will now be working as special counsel in the Washington DC office of national firm. Stroock & Strook & Lavan, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Steve Owens, general counsel of the University of Missouri System, is taking up the role of interim president of its Columbia campus. This is the second time that he has taken up an interim role, having previously run the system - an administrative hub for the university, a healthcare program and various other organisations. He will run the Columbia campus until a permanent chancellor is appointed. In his absence, Phil Hoskins will take on the role of Acting General Counsel at the System, according to KansasCity.com.
