US insurer American International Group has appointed Lucy Fato will assume the role of general counsel. Ms Fato, who joins from global investigation firm Nardello & Co, will take up the job next month. She will oversee compliance, regulatory, government affairs and the company’s lobbying efforts and will report to chief executive Brian Duperreault. She has previously worked at Marsh & McLennan and McMcGraw Hill Financial (now known as S&P Global). She succeeds Peter Solmssen, who will retire after serving as AIG’s general counsel since 2016.

Lucozade Ribena Suntory has appointed Mary Guest as its new general counsel. Ms Guest succeeds previous legal head Mollie Stoker who left to become director of business development at parent company Suntory Beverage and Food Europe. Ms Guest joins from law firm Linklaters where she was a managing associate. Prior to that, she worked at the Football Association and Clifford Chance

Global industrial aviation services provider Bristow Group has appointed Timothy Knapp to senior vice president and general counsel, responsible for all legal aspects of the business, corporate compliance and insurance on 26 September 2017. In his new role, Mr Knapp will report directly to Bristow group president and chief executive officer Jonathan Baliff.  An engineer by training, Mr Knapp was vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer at SourceGas from 2009 to 2016 prior to joining Bristow. He previously served as a partner at Knapp & Rome, specialising in energy from 1993 to 2009. Mr Knapp assumes the role from David Searle, who has been serving as interim general counsel since June 2017.

Industrial equipment supplier Nordson Corporation has appointed Gina Brickley Beredo as general counsel. She will replace Robert Veillette who is retiring from the company after 32 years of service. He joined Nordson in 1985 and has led the company’s general and intellectual property law functions since 2000. Gina Brickley Beredo, who has served as deputy general counsel and assistant secretary, joined the company in 2013.  

Sojern has appointed Paul Huie as general counsel and SVP, corporate development. Based in San Francisco, Mr Huie will oversee legal, data privacy, and M&A initiatives to accelerate Sojern's global market expansion. Prior to joining Sojern, Huie was the founding general counsel at Criteo and, most recently, led corporate development activities for the $3.5 billion technology company.  Before that, Huie was VP and associate general counsel at Yahoo!, where he led the legal team on global mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic investment efforts. During his 16 year-tenure at both companies, he has overseen more than 50 strategic transactions totalling $7 billion in value.'Sojern has done an amazing job becoming a vital marketing and distribution partner to more than 4,000 customers globally. Having worked most recently at two leading global digital media firms, I see a big opportunity for Sojern to achieve its expansion goals given its unique position in travel,' Mr Huie said.
