Historic attitudes favouring globalisation are fundamentally changing....
Following the recent partnership announcement with BP, Lightsource BP has appointed Randal Barker as general counsel. He will be based in London and report directly to Lightsource BP Group CEO, Nick Boyle. Mr Barket is an experienced M&A and capital markets lawyer, with decades of experience across several international law firms and multinational corporations, most recently at BHP Billiton, where he was general counsel and a member of the executive committee of the company’s Iron Ore division.
Ten strong team
At Lightsource BP, Randal will lead a team of 10 in-house specialists, overseeing all legal and regulatory matters for the company, as well as having responsibility for compliance and coard governance. He said: 'I was attracted by the opportunity to join a dynamic team in a growing sector. Having worked in a mix of corporates, private equity and law firms in established and emerging markets, I’ll seek to apply best practice corporate processes to Lightsource BP’s entrepreneurial environment. Part of my brief is to ensure the company is well equipped for its future projects around the world, starting with India, America and Australia. I am very excited to be an integral part of Lightsource BP’s vision to internationalise and advance solar on a global platform.' BP invested $200m in Lighthouse, Europe's largest solar development comany and the two have agreet to form a strategic partnership.
