Minsk: Peterka & Partners moves in

Recently appointed partner Zdenek Bajar will head up the office assisted by three local lawyers. Mr Bajar joined the firm earlier this year from the Czech office of US law firm Weil Gotshal & Manges.

The Belarus privatisation programme will sell off 240 state-owned and state-controlled enterprises in a wide range of industries.

Strong interest

According to Ondrej Peterka, managing partner of the firm, many of the firm’s clients have shown a strong interest in entering the Belarusian market and the office has been opened to support them. The firm is looking to up its presence in the Single Economic Area of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan.

The firm has eight offices in Central and Eastern Europe and will offer a full business law service.
