Goodwin Procter takes team for Paris office

Goodwin Procter has confirmed that it is recruiting a team of lawyers from Shearman & Sterling for the Private Equity Practice in the Paris office.

Together with counsel Adrien Paturaud and several associates, Arnaud Fromion and Frédéric Guilloux will join the firm as partners in mid-October. The team specialises in acquisition finance and corporate finance, acting for both lenders and borrowers, and private equity sponsors. Goodwin’s Paris office opened in July 2016 with a team of partners from King & Wood Mallesons that focuses on M&A, leveraged buyouts, private equity and public-to-private transactions for French and foreign private equity funds.

Building PE team in Europe

Goodwin has been focusing on building up its private equity team in Europe and there is speculation that Mark Soundy, the global head of private equity at Shearman & Sterling who resigned last week, is also in talks to join it. According to a statement from the firm, its private equity practice is ‘focused primarily in the middle market’, acting in areas such as technology, healthcare, and financial and consumer services.
