Adriana Barrera is a founding partner of BARLAW — Barrera & Asociados. She has almost 30 years of experience in the field of intellectual property law, with a particular focus on litigation and anti-piracy, and being recognized as an undisputed leader at a regional level. Adriana graduated as a lawyer from Universidad de Lima (1997) and holds an LL.M. with a specialization in Intellectual Property from Franklin Pierce Law Center in the United States (2001). She also completed a postgraduate course in Intellectual Property Law at the Universidad de Salamanca (1999), in Spain, and participated in the Summer Institute in Intellectual Property in 2001 at the Franklin Pierce Law Center. She also participated in the Program for Business Owners by the Universidad de Piura (2017). Adriana was the President of the IP Commission of the American Chamber of Commerce in Peru (2021–2022); currently, she is part of the Board of Directors of the Intellectual Property Commission. She has also been invited to participate in the Global Advisory Council of Latin America and the Caribbean, an elite group of International Trademark Association — INTA, for a period of two years. Recently, she has been appointed as an expert for Peru within UNIFAB (“Union des Fabricants”). She is an active member of INTA, MARQUES, AIPPI, APPI, IAPP, IACC, ASIPI, ECTA, and AMCHAM, while being recognized as an outstanding lawyer by many international magazines and rankings such as Leaders League, Managing IP – IP Stars, WTR 1000, Legal 500, Chambers & Partners, Latin Lawyer, WIPR, IAM PATENT, Benchmark Litigation, Patent 100, Patent Lawyer, and Best Lawyers, among others.
